Started refinishing oak floor. I will make a page for this process later.

After removing all the shag carpet the sanding began.
Sent my wife back to German with our daughter for a month to stay with in-laws.

And let the real life game of Tetris begin.

Moving everything to the kitchen and garage

Yep kitchen is getting full. Tetris Mastered

Stain found under carpet. We used bleach water and spray bottle to lift it with best of our ability.

after it dried we went back over it with the sander

Doing touch ups

Using wood glue and sanding dust mixed together makes a perfect wood putty for filling imperfections like nail holes from crazy previous owners that decided to run spikes into the floor to get rid of creeks.

Dad using the wife's POS steam mop to try and lift the stain some more.

Silly Dad that stain will never come out. HA HA HA

We almost got it all out.

final clean up with mineral spirits.
After 3 weekends of sanding and prep work we were finally able to start applying finish.
This took a month all together with myself and couple others working after work and only weekends.

We ended up applying 3 coats over the hallway, living room, and 3 bedrooms. I took no days off from work and I applied Oil based finish. Wife and kid were sent to Germany for a month, while I stayed behind to do all this work.
